The Animal Tissue Bank of Catalunya is an entity that does not obtain economical profit from its activity and is in service of research, diagnosis and education. The BTAC depends on the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Its official creation takes place from a special action of the MCYT in December, 2002, date in which the bank has economical own resources. Therefore the bank makes the first infrastructure purchases and initiates the personnel contracting. Nowadays the bank is installed into the Medicine and Surgery Animal Department of the Faculty of Veterinary of the UAB.
